The internship will take place at UNHCR’s Human Resources Unit, which is part of the Centre Management Section (CMS) and serves departments inside CMS and beyond the organization. About This Human Resources Internship

UNHCR is looking for a creative and proactive team member who is passionate about Human Resources and refugee issues to finish a 6-month internship with UNHCR’s HR unit. This UN Refugee Agency Internship is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to obtain important exposure to HR practices at UNHCR and the UN in general.

UNHCR Interns will work under the supervision of the Human Resources Associate and Human Resources colleagues. The chosen applicants for the UN Refugee Agency Internship will get practical recruitment experience. In addition, they will work with international teammates in a multicultural team.

Duties and responsibilities for UN Refugee Agency Internship

UNHCR Interns will be responsible for the following:

Administration and coordination of the UNHCR internship program in Copenhagen. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Advising and guiding supervisors on the UNHCR internship guidelines and recruitment process including helping in shortlisting and joining interviews
  • Making and posting vacancy notices.
  • Issuance of letter of offers/agreements; Briefing new UNHCR interns on working conditions.
  • Organizing and carrying out, if necessary, the onboarding processes for UNHCR interns and other staff employees.
  • Enhancing the atmosphere for the internship program.
  • Helping with intranet page maintenance.
  • Organizing/coordinating/ twice-weekly “Early Bird” information sessions for both interns and junior position holders.
  • Organizing and planning workshops and events.
  • Chance to create his or her own HR improvement initiatives by investigating our internal procedures; and
  • Ensuring compliance with UNHCR policy for the retention of records and archives while doing the filing responsibilities
  • Aiding other CMS sub-units as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Required for Human Resources Internship

In order to take this Human Resources Internship, applicants need to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be enrolled either in a graduate or undergraduate program or have just graduated (within 2 years of applying) from a university or other higher education institution recognized by the IAU/UNESCO; and
  • Have successfully completed 2 years or more of undergraduate studies in a subject that relates to or is interesting to the work of UNHCR.

NOTE

You are not eligible for the internship if your father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff member of UNHCR. This includes both a Temporary Appointment holder and a member of the Affiliate Workforce.
